Used / second-hand hardware
Due to certain provisions made in the consumer protection act, it is no longer in our interest to sell / supply used parts. However, we do offer the platform for our customers to re-sell their old equipment. This arrangement does not bind madTECH at all and is between the buyer and the seller.
madTECH Parts and equipment
All new hardware products carry a full one year manufacturers warranty – which is an industry standard. Certain component manufacturers offer a longer (i.e. 5 years) warranty. This warranty is provided by the manufacturer and not by madTECH. In the case of a manufacturer extended warranty, we will try and assist our customer with the return procedures.
Please note that any hardware connected to a standard electrical wall plug (i.e. UPS or computer power supply) will be tested in-store for any electrical surge damage before a warranty claim will be entertained. Very important is that UPS units only carry a 6 month warranty unless otherwise specified.
All faulty items under warranty must be returned to the shop – our warranty conditions stipulate “in-store”.
Software, cartridges, cables and optical media (CD/DVD) does not carry any warranties and cannot be returned for credit or swop-outs. Please ensure you purchase the correct item for your needs.
Please note that all equipment will remain the property of madTECH until fully paid for. Once the parts/equipment leave our store, the responsibility rests on the customer for adequate care and insurance.
All hardware purchased from madTECH can be installed free of charge if within a 5 day period of purchase. This excludes software drivers or any further attention.
When purchasing ADSL equipment, we can set it up with your account details on condition that this information is available to us.
Data recovery and backup information is retained by us for a period of thirty days only, after which it will be destroyed/wiped from our storage facility. Please note that the availability and security of your information is your responsibility.
Any hardware repairs excludes the testing and / or repair of software as installed on a computer, unless so requested by you as the customer.
There are no guarantees on software. All software repairs are tested in-store and the customer should ensure that the system is working as per instructions before leaving the shop. We will not be held responsible/liable for any loss of data, system integrity failure or viral infections once the computer leaves our facility.
